English dharma propagation section

From a small section of the Kuching Buddhist Society with around 20 members, the English Section has grown in membership to about 100, in about 14 years. Apart from this, the English Section Committee has been able to bring Dhamma, the Buddha's Teaching, to within reach by many, many people - members, families and friends. Over the years, we have invited many monks, nuns and also lay people to deliver Dhamma talks and share the Buddha's Dispensation with the public.

Through meditation retreats, Sunday Dhamma classes, Dhamma Examination classes and offering of food and robes to monks, too, we attempted to share the Dhamma with whoever cares to listen and understand. Meditation retreats and Dhamma talks are organised with the availability of monks. The Sunday Dhamma and Dhamma Examination classes are receiving good response from both students and adults. They are being conducted fortnightly.

接引英文教育的社会人士接受佛法，居士林也成立了英文弘法团。受英文教育的人一向以南传的巴利文经典为据，以纯朴的原始佛法和禅修。把佛法用到生活当中去，以戒律、禅定修己。英文弘法团共修的时间在每星期三晚上8点，除了颂巴利经典外，团员也分享学佛心得，以禅共修。在弘法方面，邀请西马、新加坡、斯里兰卡、泰国缅甸等国家的南传法师来开示，主办禅修课程。在卫塞节、农历新年和阳历新年也有彻夜的颂经祝福及帮助母会进行各项庆祝活动。在本地国民中学积极推动佛法，主办佛法一日营等活动。
